The founding of IIUM was first proposed by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, during a visit to the United Arab Emirates in January 1982. On January 12, 1982, the Prime Minister, in a meeting with Datuk Amar Dr. Sulaiman Daud, the Director-General of Education, Tan Sri Dato’ Hj. Murad bin Mohd. Nor, and senior civil servants and officials from local universites, formalized the decision. A committee made up of vice-chancellors, senior officers of the Ministery of Education, and representatives from the Prime Minister’s department was the formed.

The initial concept paer was prepared by Tan Sri Prof. Dr. Kamal Hassan, and it was accepted after deliberation by the Ministry of Education and approved by the Prime Minister on February, 12, 198. Eventually, Dato’ Dr. Ariffin Suhaimi, who later became deputy rector- cum-acting rector at IIUM, was made chairman of the coordinating committee and project coordinator. Tan Sri Prof. Dr. Kamal Hassan was made a member of the curriculum committee which included the high profile personality who was then in the Ministry of Education, Dato’ Dr. Abdul Hamid Othman.

Originally established in 2012 as MyTeksi in Malaysia, GrabTaxi is a Southeast Asian focused taxi-booking app founded by Harvard Business School graduates Anthony Tan and Tan Hooi Ling. The idea for GrabTaxi first started when Anthony Tan was a student at Harvard Business School and a classmate pulled him aside to gripe about how hard it was to hail a cab in Malaysia. Tan drew up a business plan for an Uber-like service that won backing from angel investors, leading the youngest of three brothers to quit the family business in 2012 to start GrabTaxi, a mobile application that assigns available cabs nearby to commuters using mapping and location-sharing technology. Tan pitched the idea to the panel of the 2011 Harvard Business Plan Competition, that led to them being placed second, making them the first all-Asian team to have succeeded in many years.

In 2016, Grab added in-app instant messaging to allow simple communication between riders and drivers. It also translates the messages if the languages between rider and driver are different.

We understand our customers’ needs and serve them by combining our myriad of printing services in the areas of general printing, variable data printing, security printing and digital imaging with our in-house design services. These are all under one roof at a facility of 83,000 sq ft. in Kuala Lumpur. Tentang UKM

Cetusan pertama gagasan perlunya pendidikan tinggi untuk orang Melayu berlaku dalam Mesyuarat Majlis Raja-raja pada 1903. Za’ba, seorang cendekiawan, menulis berkenaan gagasan tersebut dalam akhbar Lembaga Melayu pada 1917. Gerakan pemikiran, perdebatan serta tekad golongan cendekiawan Melayu untuk menubuhkan sebuah universiti dan menggunakan bahasa Melayu, bahasa ibunda sebagai bahasa pengantar di institusi pengajian tinggi bermula pada 1923 apabila Abdul Kadir Adabi, seorang lagi cendekiawan Melayu mengemukakan memorandum gagasan tersebut kepada DYMM Sultan Kelantan. Namun demikian, pemikiran dan tekad tersebut tidak dapat berkembang dan terlaksana kerana wujudnya berbagai-bagai halangan dan rintangan oleh tekanan kolonialisme.

Mulai 1957 hingga 1967, perjuangan untuk penubuhan universiti kebangsaan menjadi semakin bersemarak sebagai memenuhi tuntutan dan semangat kemerdekaan bangsa dan negara. Sehubungan itu, pada 1968 cendekiawan Melayu telah membentuk sebuah jawatankuasa penaja yang berperanan merancang penubuhan sebuah universiti kebangsaan. Pelbagai forum budaya dan politik diadakan bagi mendapat sokongan kerajaan dan rakyat untuk mewujudkan sebuah institusi pengajian tinggi yang memartabatkan bahasa Melayu sebagai bahasa pengantar dalam semua bidang pangajian dan keilmuan.

Perjuangan yang tidak pernah luput itu mencapai kejayaan dengan penubuhan Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) pada 18 Mei 1970 yang memulakan operasi pertamanya di Lembah Pantai Kuala Lumpur. Kumpulan pertama pelajar prasiswazah seramai 190 orang dan satu (1) orang pascasiswazah mula mendaftar di tiga buah fakulti iaitu Fakulti Sains, Fakulti Sastera dan Fakulti Pengajian Islam.

Previously known as the Federated Malay States Railways (FMSR) and the Malayan Railway Administration (MRA), Keretapi Tanah Melayu acquired its current name in 1962.

Sejarah KTMB 

Pada tahun 1961 merupakan tarikh berakhirnya orang eropah menjadi Pengurus Besar KTM. Dato’ Ahmad Perang merupakan anak watan yang pertama menjadi Pengurus Besar, dan Haji Waad Jamaluddin merupakan kakitangan KTM yang pertama berjaya memegang jawatan Pengurus Besar KTM. Selebihnya jawatan tersebut dipegang Pegawai Perkhidmatan Tadbir dan Diplomatik (PTD) yang dipinjamkan ke KTM.

KTM sejak sebelum Perang Dunia lagi mempunyai rancangan pembinaan landasan merentasi Kuala Lumpur ke Pahang, dari Johor Bahru ke Kuantan dan menyusur negeri Terengganu dan kelantan tetapi tidak dapat dilaksanakan. Malah beberapa landasan yang telah dirancangkan namun ianya tidak menjadi kenyataan.

Diantaranya ialah landasan sejauh 70 batu dari kulai ke Endau; keduanya dari Kluang ke Muar dan terus ke Melaka sejauh 95 batu, ketiga; landasan sejauh 40 batu dari Gemas ke Melaka. Di Pahang pula dirancangkan landasan cawangan dari Jerantut ke Kuantan sejauh 25 batu, manakala di Selangor pula dari kelang ke Morib. Di negeri Perak cadangan pembinaan landasan cawangan yang terbengkalai iaitu dari Ipoh ke Gopeng dan dari Bagan Serai ke Kuala Kurau. Namun kesemua rancangan tersebut tidak terlaksana.

Latar Belakang

Pada tahun 1989 Majlis Daerah Kerajaan Tempatan Kubang Pasu telah ditukarkan nama kepada Majlis Daerah Kubang Pasu dan diwartakan mengikut Seksyen 3, AKTA KERAJAAN TEMPATAN 1976 (AKTA 171). Daerah Kubang Pasu terletak paling utara di Negeri Kedah Darul Aman. Ianya bersempadan dengan Negara Thailand di sebelah utara, Daerah Padang Terap di sebelah timur, Daerah Kota Setar di selatan, Negeri Perlis Indera Kayangan dan Selat Melaka di sebelah barat. Mempunyai keluasan 94,596 hektar ( 945.971 km persegi ). 

Sebahagian besar tanah Daerah Kubang Pasu mempunyai tanah rata dengan sedikit berbukit di sebelah timur. Sebanyak 35% ( 33,773 hektar ) tanah di daerah ini dalam kawasan MADA manakala 65% ( 60,824 hektar ) di luar kawasan MADA. Mempunyai 21 mukim yang terdapat di dalam daerah ini.
